Mortons Neuroma

i was referred to hospital after having really bad pain in my foot. I explained that thought it came from just under my 3rd and 4th toes but wasnt sure as sometimes i didnt know where it started as it so bad.i got a letter today saying i did have a Mortons Neuroma but under my 2nd and 3rd toes.the letter says the surgeon will do an exploratory operation under my 3rd and 4th toe but didnt mention removing the actual Neuroma.will this be done as a matter of course ?

It is between 3rd and 4th toes, underneath, and it has been explained to me that the operation will be done from the top of the foot, going downwards. Apparently it is quite a large neuroma which is like a lump of gristle, and that the cortisone injections which were originally mentioned would not work on it. I had an ultrasound scan to find out exactly what it was, and apparently there will be an MRI scan before the actual surgery takes place, so that up to date information is available.
In the part of the country where I live, Essex/Herts, there is a 12 month waiting list for surgery, and I have been waiting 5 months so far, so prepare to be patient whilst for the operation.
I wish you a speedy recovery since I know exactly what sort of pain you have. I have found that really thick socks are the best thing to walk around in indoors, and thick rigid soled shoes seem to be most wearable to reduce the pain.
