We are all confused. I bought 40" Samsung - my friend bought 40" Sony - per natural Freeview is inbuilt in the TVs - now my friend says that because the TVs are HD ready we can buy a "server" or something like that to give us HD. Can anybody enlighten us about this.

Milvous has answered that part, and a quick check of the specs shows that TV has a standard definition freeview tuner built in, not a HD one.

as your local area isn't going to be transmitting freeview HD until next year then the options to get HD tv are limited to Freesat HD (can be run from your current sky dish) or sky HD (upgrade your current sky subscription) or Virgin HD (check if your street is cabled)

Yes I do think HD is worth the effort and it's very noticeably better than SD as long as it's setup correctly and you have a decent HD source, And yes I do have a HD TV with a Xbox and a media PC as HD sources.

I have also setup several other peoples HD tvs and every single one of them has said that it is noticeably better than SD.
