And continuing the theme of birds....oh and squirrels too
2 Answers
all five nesting boxes we put up have residents!! Well, that is to say I've seen in-and-out activity at all five anyway. My dad got a special 'squirrel-proof' bird feeder and was so pleased with it he sent for one for me, and so far it's working, by that i mean the squirrels haven't got at the nuts - they knocked it on the ground, but I put it back up. They have their own nut feeder, whih they seem to empty every few hours, greedy lot!

A squirrel somehow manages to hang upside down from the bird table and appears to be getting at the seeds but goodness knows how. Add to that 2 or 3 pheasants waiting on the ground beneath. looking for bits that get dropped. Anyway it would be a sad sort of garden without a bit of wildlife.
I've got hedgehogs, I took advice from ' Mrs Tiggywinkles' and left a piece of piping under the appletrees, and it got covered in leaves, and three hedgehogs 'moved in' next door have a pond, so I get frogs hopping over, and I've seen a grass snake or two as well - like you say a garden does need a bit of wildlife!
