OK I am fed up paying an arm and leg for Frontline for my dog. It is just no good anymore in getting rid and staying rid of fleas.! Has any other dog owner found anything else in the last couple of years that is effective . Many thanks

Stronghold - we use it on our cats but there is also a dog version. Excellent stuff. http://www.buystronghold.co.uk/
Have you de fleaed the house? I dont know why, but I have never had a problem with fleas, and I dont use anything to prevent them regularly, unless I hear of someone who's dog has fleas at a show, in which case I keep well away.
Stronghold is NOT recommend for Rough Collies if that is what you want to use it on Lilacben.
We use Advocate on our two, it worms them too. I have heard that Frontline is'nt working anymore maybe something to do with fleas building up resistance. But you really do need to tackle the enviroment because if you don't get rid of the eggs you'll be going round in circles and never be rid of them. Dog's beds, the carpets, practically anywhere your dog has been could be harbouring them.
Make sure you fleabomb your house too.
Dont use Advocate on Roughs either LOL. Frontline is the only 'chemical' deterrant recommended.
Frontline spray is far more effective than any of the spot on treatments. Its all I ever use, but last year didn't have to use it once.

Many thanks for all your replies. Yes Lankeela it is for my rough. I will try the spray and see if it is any better.
The Front Line Spot-On doesn't work anymore. Both dogs and cats have become immune to it. Just google and you will see loads of peeps moaning about it. I don't know about the spray, maybe it's stronger. We're using Advocate and it's doing the job. My vet says he's not going to stock FL anymore.
The spray is only available from the vet on prescription. lilacben it was jules who asked if it was a Rough, but thinking about it do you know you shouldn't give them Milbemax wormer either? None of the collie type breeds unless tested for MDR1 tolerance.
Strange how Frontline seems to have lost its' use in ridding dogs of fleas. I am hearing this so often now. We use Frontline PLUS which also gets rid of the eggs and so far we have had good results. It is only available on prescription but we purchase it from abroad in bulk for friends and family. Have heared a lot of good things about Stronghold too though so may just give that a go this Summer. The Frontline PLUS from the vet cost my daughter about £30 and is under a different name - will ask her and get back to you.
You need to treat the house, buy a well known brand and spray carpets etc, otherwise you will never get rid of them.A friend o mine used a bomb and found that this did the trick.
I have heard that Drontal is the latest thing. It's advertized in my local vets and chemists. Might be worth a try.
Drontal is a wormer not a flea treatment unless they have started doing one now.
