Some years ago I saw a clip from a US crime programme/documentary. In one episode the police were chasing some bad guys in cars. When the police managed to stop the baddies in their car there was a bit of a stand-off.
The police shouted across to come out or they would shoot but the bad guys just sat in their car.
Then the police said - it you don't get out of your car we will send the dogs over. The two bad guys flew out of the cat with hands up.
They are great animals and we should be honoured to share our lives with them.
As for cats - and the cat who woke me up - the one at death's door due to overnight hunger - he has toddled off back to bed. His sister is trying to fit herself into a handbag and not managing - thankfully she is a pretty cat and this makes up for her lack of brains.

I remember an incident back in the 60's in Southend during the time of the Mods and Rocker troubles, two rival groups were shouting abuse at each other across a car park in the middle of which stood two coppers gossiping away with out a care in the world while their dogs sat at their sides. A sargeant arrived and through a bullhorn proceeded to tell the gangs to disperse a request which was met by a barrage of abuse from both sides, he then gave an order to his two cops who each advanced to about twenty yards from the respective gangs. They stopped, unleashed their dogs and stepped back a pace. The dogs just sat there the crowd dispersed.
