Anyone Won on Competitions?

I am just curious if anyone on here have won any good prises (sp) from quiz competitions.

How many times have you been lucky?

I won €100 on the star chic crosswords around a year ago, have the won the suduko and quick/cryptic crossword in the mail on sunday for which i got a dictionary and a suduko puzzle book.

I won 'Best recipe' for molasses pancakes in Girl comic, one guinea - a fortune yonks ago.

Also I got star letter in the Mandy comic was I was around 9 or 10..won a £25 voucher for a clothes shop in the uk..which is great if you live in the uk and not in dublin where they didn't have any of them shops hahaa

I think more likely I am just old muchlovex.! Have spent many years fascinated with competitions. In the early days I won a few shillings with my drawing of a bee visting flowers. Have often had letters published, as I think they are always short of letters. A good few tips as well, which pay well with a photo. The secret is to enter as many competitions as you can, and if there is a tie breaker, try to come up with something good! I got my best one by thinking about it while cleaning the car! Corny rhymes often do well also. I remember reading once that on many local paper competitions they sometimes have less entries than prizes.

I won the You magazine xword about 2 years ago but that's all in years of xwording and puzzling.

Nope, not on crosswords - won on a radio quiz in NY on some obtuse UK history question

Prize was a free meal in a restaurant on Long Island and I got food poisoning from baked clams.

I've won quite a lot of prizes with Colossus crosswords. I think it's been more a case of luck, first one drawn out of the bag, rather than talent.

I won £400 worth of shopping vouchers on Take a Break a few years back. Or rather, my sister did, as I filled the form in in her name.

crosswords, but mostly postcard with name and address which is in all differant magazines,but i get the compers news every month.
