Have just read the referendum booklet , do not really understand the system.

But think it means that my area could end up with a Salads Chef we don't want ,instead ot the Salads Chef we did!
Have I got it right?

under the current system, plenty of people have ended up with a salad chef they didn't want, and pretty well the entire country has ended up with a government they didn't want. Can't see that a changed system wwould be any worse.

Ah but JNO - it wouldn't be any better either so what's the point of changing it?

It could men that someone nobody really wanted gets in and some people's votes are counted more than others'. As you say FA, leave it as it is.

Almost every other organisation in the country now uses the STV system. Our student union was using it 40 years ago. I've subsequently drafted the constitutions for several sports clubs, social clubs and charitable organisations, with every one of them using STV, as did the trade union branch which I was secretary of. I also know of many other similar clubs and organisations which have adopted STV, so it seems ridiculous that our Parliamentary system should remain in the dark ages!

I've read the AV info and think I quite like the idea to tell you the truth.

You'll be able to vote for your first choice as normal and do no more; or..... you can stipulate a 2nd choice and should your first choice not be elected your vote will be transfered to the 2nd, thus keeping out the enemy.
