Greens live on another planet
3 Answers
A member of the green party was on the news after the budget complaining that fuel prices should be left to rise as a way of reducing emmisions. What planet are these people on? What do they think would happen to our economy if their policies were put in place? It would be destroyed and thousands more would end up out of work. The only way their policies would be remotely viable is if the whole world did the same so that every country was on a level playing field but it's not going to happen, so to do these things unilaterally would be economically suicidal for the UK.

Well, 5p more per litre would make more new car buyers to acquire fuel efficient vehicles.
Oil prices won't be any lower in five years time, but there will still not be enough fuel efficient used cards for the less advantaged who need to drive to work. The British economy is half as dependent (in relation to GDP) on oil as the American economy. That is simply because fuel costs more in the UK. Let's expand this advantage into an uncertain future!
The tax on fuel should go UP!
