Where are the best rates for one year or less? Rates, hopefully will increase so I don`t want to commit for longer also I am over 65 so short term is more convenient.
I have always had Isa`s but as a non-tax payer they will only help with Capital Gains when withdrawn. A good idea would be a place for older people to get instant advice in these matters, especially with the current poor rates and those who wouldn`t qualify for benefits etc. Any help gratefully received-thanks.
There are several good online guides.

Unless you have lots of money the interest you receive will be very little, and in real terms will lose value.
