Total Hip Replacement....clunking noise?
8 Answers
My sister had a THR 8 weeks ago. She is not in any pain but she is experiencing a loud ''clunking noise'' a9which other people can hear) on movement and when walking.
Her GP said lots of people get this and that its nothing to worry about?!!
Has anyone else experienced this? and what was the outcome?
Grateful for any helpful comments.

My wife had a total hip replacement three years ago. Not long after this she began experiencing something like you describe and it was just audible. She was told that some people have this for the rest of their lives but for the majority this phenomenon is just a temporary thing, caused (as explained in the link supplied by pinki) by a tendon or other tissue jerking over the joint during movement. The sensation and noise all but disappeared within a few weeks (thereafter occurring only very occasionally). I don't think it ever occurs any more.
