As as I sit at 6.31 in Sunday morning I do really have to take stock of my drinking habits.

I am drinking 94 units a week (female) and I am frightened. I drink extra special beer and since all my friends are around me getting chemo for various other reasons I need to reflect on this. I do only drink for boredom at night 4 cans of this stuff. but it is too much. Dont want to go to AA very much - will control this myself. Anybody advise me about the boredom. I never sit down all day and keep busy so look forward to this drink at night but sure I will have to give it or go down the route of perhaps a lighter beer or "wait for God" Any advice will be appreciated and thanks

Anneasquith - my boy is 40 - We've had so many years of being worried about him. So many people say - don't bother about him - but how can we?? We're both tapping on 70 and he's more of a worry now than he was when he was when he was a baby.
Conne I commend you for your self recognition of this. it is but the first step for you. Your resolve is admirable, if you do not wish to go down the route of groups or GP, then set yourself a reduction plan, both in strength of alcohol and quantity
I wish you all the very best in this.

Avril - (((HUG))) for you too, Viv xx
masma... positive thoughts to your son and family tomorrow.
Conne I admire you for posting this.

Would taking up embroidery or going to an evening class at your local college/uni help?
Even being an occasional head in the hair-dressers training session would take up some time of an evening albeit once every 6 weeks
Well now.. Viv and Anne.. you've made me cry.Tears are never far from the surface, my boy is the dearest soul but he just has this problem. I do feel that it will kill him. To see your son having a fit due to alcohol is soul distroying.
masma. well now you have us crying.......... ♥♥♥
masma, we give birth, we nurture but we cannot ensure the rest of their lives, I hope and pray you get your boy back, much love.
