oyster card...worth it or not.?

im going to london travelling around zones 1 & 2 for a day is oyster better value than a £6.60 day travel card.?
also im staying at a hotel in purley oakes later in the year. travel into london and back is £15 a day on a travel card. (im staying 3 days) again does a oyster card become better value. cheers ian.

Isn`t purley oaks in Zone 6? An all zones travel card from zone 6 is £8. I use my Oyster for local bus journeys for evenings out or for a single there and back journey on the underground but apart from that I find the one day travel card better value (especially if you are making several journeys around and about on a day out)

You will never pay more on an Oyster than you would on a travel card. If you don't use enough to warrant a daily card, it could still work out cheaper than paying individual tickets as, aside from convenience, using Oyster automatically discounts on actual cost.

Dunno if Oyster can be used on that section of Overground though - It can on some bits but you will have to check.

yes purley oaks is in zone 6 and its £15 for an off peak travel card to and from central london. and yes you can use the oyster card on network rail. thanks.

I think you might find £15 is the peak travel card. The off peak is £8

237sj, yes you,re right, sorry read the wrong column.! £8 is much better than £6.60 for zones 1&2. as we are covering 6 zones over 3 days.

Are you 'I' or ''we'?

If the latter then your travelcards bought at Purley Oaks National Rail station will give you various 2 for 1 admissions in London on production of your travelcards and a voucher
