Why not direct debit them monthly, so you can't forget?

Don't like DD hopkirk. The last one I had robbed me of a lot of money, and i didn't get it back.
Why have you not been able to micmak?
I pay all my regular bills by Direct Debit mikmak including anything I have bought with my credit card. I like not having to think about it. When my statement comes I always check it carefully and I keep a record in a little red book of everything I spend otherwise I would be in a complete mess financially. Please note that is a little red book not a little black one.
I pay everything by DD too, and have done for years. I get a 10% discount on most bills for doing so and have never had a problem.
DD is a design of the devil. SO used to work well and then they said, "I wonder if we get fool them into letting us get to all their savings and grab anything we want anytime, just by promising we won't without warning them ?". Can imagine the conversation. "No, no one is that daft, after all they don't get copies of their house and car keys for all the street on the promise than no one will break in would they". "Oh you underestimate what you can get them to do, especially if we can arrange it so they have no reasonable option". And lo it came to pass that most fell for it and effectively allowed the banks and other commercial concerns to pressurise those who tried to have more sense. And that is the society I have to cope with.
What a load of tosh.
Oh for heaven's sake Oldgeezer, that is a very old fashioned way of looking at it. I get money off for paying by DD and moreover I am not paying in advance but in arrears. Suits me.
I pay everything by DD. I bank online and check it every day. Have done so for many years and not had a problem yet (touch wood).
Whilst you may disagree with DD amounts for utility bills I cannot understand anyone not paying by DD for council tax, water bills, and TV licence as you only pay the exact amount of the bill divided by 10 or 12.
