I listened to Jo Hiley on Radio Two last night, and i cannot believe that this is the garbage with which they have replaced the peerles Radcliffe And Maconie!

Why does she still talk like a student? She's forty-bloomin'-five with four children!

She talks so fast i pity anyone without a first-class command of 'student' peak trying to follow what she is on about.

She 'interviewed' the lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys' who obviously couldn't be bothered to drag himself into he studio, so spoke on the phone from a street in london (?) and was asked - and I kid you not -

"If your album was a drink, what kind of drink would it be? I'd say a Pina Colada ..."

what is this woman taking????

That's the sort of question that was asked to pop stars in 'Jackie' magazine - i know, i used to write for them.

This idiot has inherited a prime slot because the BBC has to be seen to 'encompassing' so they ditch a Sony-Award winning show and consign the two hosts to the desert of daytimg Six music.

Watch the figures freefall, and hopefully this ludicrous woman who finds everything just too fabulous to get her breath over will be banished to an early morning slot on a commercial station - where her 'talents' belong.

OK - any defence?

Hmm i haven't listened to her since she was on daytime at radio 1 but she annoyed me then. Re: women DJ's - may i recommend Shelagh fogarty from radio 5 live breakfast - she is great, although she has the misfortune to be on with Nicky campbell :(
Leona Graham on Absolute radio is a tip top presenter, her Saturday Rock Show is a must listen.

I love Lauren Lavern, unfortunately I don't like the music she plays :-)

I'm afraid the BBC does have a ham-fisted way of overcoming it's london-centric snobbishness - until now that has been done by employing strange oiks with a 'north-of-Watford' accent.

Now of course, they are shifting a mass of jobs to Salford in the hope of appearing less snobish!

Since almost every northern person who intended to work for the BBC has moved south years ago, it all seems a bit late now!

I will say thhat they have got something right - moving Tony Blackburn to Pick of The pops - sensational!!!
Yep, a very wise move Andy. And just right for us oldies!! runs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I can't even find a radio show to listen to in the mornings anymore... Moyles drives me potty, Evans bores me, I don't like adverts and also don't like capital... I think it might even have been Radcliffe (not sure though) who did the morning before Chris Evans and he was great, I never understood why he got replaced.

I also hate this new thing of shouting in to a microfone and also repeating the same line over and over again because it's 'funny'....

'Us' oldies ???????
The over 50 lot Andy. And I was only joking, honestly I was!!
Dare I even say that I enjoy Richard Maddeley when he occcasionally takes over from 'me me me Evans'. At least we get to hear the music!!
Agreed Lofty. Unfortunately, I don't like the music he plays :-/

It's a shame as I used to like listening to the radio when getting ready for work in the morning too. I just don't bother now.
I am not a morning person China and have to stear clear of Evans completely. But then as far as he is concerned I am not an afternoon, evening or night person. I just cannot understand anyone liking him whatsoever. Irritating beyond words and yes, boring.

Let you off Lotts!

i do quite like Chris Evans now he has settled down.

He does have the ability to talk quickly and be cohernet, something JW has yet to master - probably too late now.

Caitlin Moran writing in the Times said this -

"her on-screen style that seems to inspire the main rage — a decades-long, squirming awkwardness that makes her look as if she’s about to corkscrew right off her chair and start drilling into the ground...."

Yup - that's about it.
gosh, i cannot stand jo whiley, veron kaye, lauren laverne and sara cox.
i cannot stand adverts, so i listen to chris evans mostly in the mornings ( i am of that age i guess) although to avoid driving my car into a tree i listen to chris moyles when richard madeley is on holiday cover. chris m is ok for my 20 minute drive but not much more.
Oh Ankou, Chris Evans is such a twerp!! But it's the 'me me me' thing that really gets me. Can't stand any commercial channels either. Actually I love it when Ken Bruce takes over at 9.30, must be an age thing. And I love Paul Jones with his R&B (the old R&B!!!!) show on a Monday night, and the folk on Wednesday night with Mike Harding, both superb programmes. Perhaps that is an age thing too.
i listen to the folk one on the way to the gym, it gets me legs jigging and all warmed up.
I shall think of you next Tuesday evening Ankou, with your jiggy legs!!
