I have cleared a substantial area of my garden prior to putting down gravel. I also have half a dozen rolls of spare roofing felt, can I use these instead of the proper weed suppressant membrane ?

Membrane and gravel put down in my garde. A single tulip has grown through! Will keep it for being so brave but did have word swith it about its foolhardiness.
Vulcan - Membrane lets the water through, roofing felt won't, so you will be creating a big puddle if you use it!!!!
We regravelled our garden last weekend - you need porous membrane, stops weeds but doesn't stop the soil breathing. Homebase do it in rolls.
I suppose you could go all over it with a garden fork to let water though.
