EV 963 Broken up by Piccadilly

Hello to all the EV N&C Wine Clubbers,
I thought I would be in for a tough time this week. I don't like the jigsaw type of barred crosswords. I went through the clues and to my surprise solved well over 75% of them at the first pass. Needless to say it didn't apply to the 8 letter answers! In the hard copy the penultimate clue in the middle column gave the wrong number of lights, which didn't help! Not sure wher it appears on Clued Up, but it involves Mr Stewart! Anyway, eventually managed to place everything appropriately. What a shame the 3 answers that need to be "broken up" weren't related or thematic.
Time for a preprandial!

Unlike DocHH I enjoy the jigsaw type of puzzle. I was slightly better off than Doc after my first run though and expected to wrap it up quicker than I did.

I was working from the Clued Up copy which also has the Stewart clue as 5 instead of 6.

Hello DocHH & K. Very easy clues, even for me, never did get the Stewart clue until filling the grid but cottoned on to the quote as soon as the NE corner filled, SS always amuses me and his co-author (so to speak, tho' only reputed) also a person to be reckoned with! What now I ask? Have to N & C with a vengence I suppose but definitely time for a pre-prandial, Chase Gin (made from British Spuds in Hereforedshire and very delicious, available along with the matched set of Vodka from that Kingly supplier in many civilised areas of the Country) and Fevertree tonic.....I'm worth it to pinch from the cosmetic cooers!

Also was bemused by the rod stewart clue stating 5 letters rather than six. Threw me off 'til I realised the compiler's mistake. Have to agree with DocHH regarding the three 'broken up' clues being unrelated. Until next week...

This was easy enough that I was able to do it on a plane with no reference books handy; held up far too long by miscounting the number of broken up letters (I counted 15 twice!) and by the wrong enumeration (which is really inexcusable in a puzzle of this type). (BTW haggis, I think 'rod' qualifies as too much information about this clue?)

In sunny Miami at the moment, getting ready to visit the eponymous U. tomorrow; May 1 is decision date here in the US - much angst in the dr b household these days.

HI All
This was my second EV of the day - very hectic week meant I was catching up with last week's (which I thoroughly enjoyed btw). Good job I haven't managed to complete it (haven't put a single answer in - still ploughing my way through the clues), as I could only celebrate with a diet coke or similar as I have given up alcohol for Lent. (No - my hands are not trembliing honest!!!).

House is once more full of visitors, including a very lively three year old, but nevertheless completed without difficulty. Spotted the 'should be six letters' Stewart clue early on, so wasn't affected by that, and like K enjoy the jigsaw type puzzles.
Devadolly, all these visitors have given me a chance to offload innumerable desserts, all variations on a theme - you've guessed it - Apples. Have also quaffed much apple juice, as well as grape (though the latter was in a somewhat more sophisticated form). One of our party is laid low with a stomach bug - too much of a good thing, perhaps.
