I see nothing odd in not wishing to take your husband's surname - but i do have a minor issue with the concept of double-barelling names.
It infers that some kind of dynasty is at work here, and the name must be preserved, rather than dying out naturally.
i think there are very few DB names that sound anything other than pretentious - you may be luckly with your children's DB, I don't know. If it's something obvious ancient and really posh, like Cavannagh-Mainwairing, or Blashford-Snell, that always sounds suitable rich and important, but some of the more mundane names just appear a little off if DB'd.
I have daughters, so when I peg it, my line of the Hughes dynasty will vanish, and i have no problem with that at all. Since only my youngest daughter shares my name - the other two are married - I would not dream of asking her to become Mrs Hughes-Lewis (Lewis-Hughes?) when she gets mattied in October.
That said, I am very much for live and let live, so this is purely a personal view.
