4 ac - Yank gets appropriate neighbours to welcome Queen - I 'get' er fpr Queen; jk for neighbours and jerk for yank, but what does 'appropriate' contribute to the clue?
10 ac - Provide entertainment and grub without support - it must be 'cater', but I can't get the cryptic bit of the clue.
25 ac - 17's riding in luggage van, somehow - must be 'Evans' - hidden in clue - but what's the connection with 17 (Eliot) ?
I found this one very abstruse today.

"Caterpillar" - just didn't see it - great clue!
Didn't know the Evans/Eliot connection, so I've learned something today!
But I had twigged that 'j' and 'k' were alphabetical 'neighbours' - just couldn't see what contribution 'appropriate' made to that clue - am I missing something?

Now I can try to look as if I have a brain!
11ac - lead on (lead = metal);
21 ac - Plymouth (ply= keep working; mouth= opening);
22ac - grocer (sound like grosser);
2 dn - tesla (very abstruse!) al + set backwards
8 dn - aurora australis ;
13 dn - limpet mine (limp = pathetic; whole thing = explosive; still a bit baffled by the rest!);
18dn - tootsie (I think this is terrible! - legend = leg end = toe, which is half of 'tootsie wootsie'!);
23 dn - chute (chute = way down; author = (Nevil) Shute - lose 's' (south) and add 'c' - chapter.)
Tricky today, to say the least! Now for the Jumbo!
