What rights do I have?

Hi there, I have been working in the same school for just over 3 years now and when I got the job it was classed as temporary (in the first instance). Every year so far I have been given a new contract and told that the following year I should be made permanent, but this never materializes!

I am VERY grateful to have my job and love it, but I am finding that every year I'm just let down again and feel that I've committed so much to my employer with no commitment coming back to me.

I don't want to look for another job, but I'm wondering what rights at this stage of my employment?

Thanks in advance x

By law you should have been made permanent by the end of your second year. For clarification contact CAB but I went through this myself a few years ago and I was made permanent. Good luck!

Thank you, I think I'm reading it right, it's after 4 years (think I'm going to keep my nose to the ground as I have been offered a 4th contract ready for Sept 2011 (another year fixed).

Thank you, it's a midfield and I'm getting worried!

Got appointment with citizens advice, apparently as I'll be in my 4th year in Sept I should be told that I'm either made permanent or my job is not required, but that would mean they couldn't put someone else in my place as it has to be offered to me first!

If they got rid of me and put someone in my place it would be a strong tribunal case! Well I don't think they intend on getting rid, I'm good at my job and there is a definite need for my job, so not too worried, but I'm glad I know my rights though!
Reason for doing this I would say, is to avoid paying out redundancy. Good luck holding on until September 2011 then (assumign that is over the 4th anniversary and not over the 3rd otherwise it would be September 2012 before this could be forefully resolved presumably).
