i don't get it...

I'm at the city hospital in birmingham and stood outside, admittedly in the sunshine, there are people in pyjamas, pushing drip trolleys, smoking.
I don't get it - if you're ill enough for a drip trolley, you really shouldn't be smoking should you? Or is there a point missed somewhere?

If you have a full packet of cigarettes you may well only smoke 4 in a day. If you have only 4 cigarettes in your packet, you'll go through them within an hour of getting up....
The more you fret about *not* smoking.......the greater it plays on your mind, and the greater the urge to smoke.

I gave up smoking while in hospital but fully understand that if you are addicted it is an all consuming need. The trouble with smoking is that all the bad things happen to someoneelse and we all know people who "never smoked in their life but still died of cancer" Pity the people still smoking, they are more likely than you to suffer in the long run.
