Changing the end result on Hyperlink
At the moment I use Hyperlink so that certain parts of Word or Excel files open music tracks in Windows Media Player. Is it possible to change the default so that it automatically opens a different program (for example Virtual DJ)?

So you'll have to change the file association so that music files always open with Virtual DJ (for example).
To do that, right-click on any music file and select 'Open With'. Do NOT click on Virtual DJ. Instead, click on 'Choose Program'. Click to put a tick alongside 'Always use the selected program to open this type of file'. Click on 'Virtual DJ' (if it's not listed, click on 'Browse', navigate to the program's location and double-click on it). Click 'OK'. In future all music files will open with Virtual DJ.

This has nowt to do with the fact that you are using hyperlinks,
The problem lies with Virtual DJ, which is not designed to automatically accept files from the operating system. So even if you set Virtual DJ as the default for opening files of a particular type (eg, mp3), you'll find that double-clicking one of those files will open VDJ, but VDJ will not open the file.
