30 Answers
Brief background.. a couple of years ago got chatting to a chap on line.. turned out to be a complete loony and he stalked me to within an inch of my nerves....I had to ask a blokey chap to tell him to back off.. which he did... then exactly a year later.. the phone calls start again... luckily my adorable ex-husband (which I'd told every thing to) was here.. and it all stopped again... Got home from work tonight to be told by my son someone called 'James' had called (he's used other names in the past) and was asking about where I worked and if I was divorced, etc.... ewww.. I know it's him.. and am freaking out a tad.. (ex is on hols so not here to be all manly) double bolts on all doors and lights out... Can I call 999.. or is that a bit 'dramatic'.. or do I seek out the local police and see if they can be bothered to put my mind at rest...

Hi Hippyhoppy
If you are going to report this to the police then In my opinion the best course of action would be to report the facts by telephone (there is a reason for this). There are a few offences that cover this type of unwanted conduct which the police can consider using at an early stage in order to try and prevent any future problems of this nature.
If the accused is identified then the police will carry historic checks on this individual which will be used as part of a risk assessment and help decide what course of initial action to take.
It is common for the police to give a written warning for harassment in such circumstances, firstly to try and put a stop to the matter with minimum instrusion to all parties and also to knock out one of the main defences used in harassment. Telecommunications offences can also be considered as previously mentioned.

my pal met "a nice bloke" on the net, after two meetings, when he enquired could he bring his toothbrush next time she said no, after that all her computer was wiped out all her contacts everything gone.Luckily she had the sense to change her e mail address when she got up & running again. Hell hath no fury like a Man scorned !
