i live in an and of terrace house and our neighbours use our garden to access their house. they have a front door but use the back enterence as their main access. they know that i have a pet dog but constantly leave the gate open. am i right in thinking

that this access is only supposed to be used for taking their bins out or is there nothing i can do????

If it's the first, there's not much you can do, they're granted complete freedom of movement - so you can't lock the gate. If it's 'right of access', it ought to state for what purpose, e.g. window cleaning, maintenance of their property, seeing to their drains and services, etc. Under 'right of access' you are normally at liberty, not to prevent access, but to permit it by appointment only!

Don't you ever think about how your neighbour feels about begging to gain acess to their own back garden. we have this problem with our neighbour we had live here for 22 years when he moved in and caused a lot of bad feeling without even speaking to us we have to get to our garden with things other than bins
