I have lots and lots of what I think are alliums growing in a border. Some are quite large (not giant aliums though) and some are so thin they are almost like thick hairs. Can you eat them? Should I thin them out? I've tried googling and still don't know. Thank you. PS I'm actually having a dig right now so I'll be able to do whatever is best almost immediately.
the only alliums you can eat are onions not ornamental ones and garlic. If you like the drumhead type flowers just leave them there, if you don't then dig them out.
Thanks Woofgang. I was quite tempted to try them - there wasnt a single bunch of spring onions in Tesco yesterday afternoon! I'll leave them where they are then.
