Why am i coughing so much

Hi, Every year I get this bout of coughing it happens 2 or 3 in a year, cough is so intensive that I need to visit my doctor he would give antibiotics and steroids and I would use steam to clear my passage ways and if I am lucky it would go away then come back in some months I have been to hospitals to no avail still suffering if anyone out there can help please let me know thank you.

It could be an allergy. (Some types of hay fever don't produce the sneezing and itchy eyes that most people associate with it. You can get flu-like symptoms and coughing instead).

Have a word with your pharmacist. Let him know what (if anything) your doctor has already prescribed. Then ask him if he thinks it's worth trying an antihistamine.

It might well be an allergy...ask your doctor if he will do some blood tests and possibly refer you to an allergist.
My allergies have caused a general breakdown of defense systems and allowed bacterial infections several times so that was the first thing that occurred to me too.
