but I think it is one of the ponciest National dances that any country has
The Scots have a fabulous dance and National costume, the Welsh have a lovely costume
the Irish are renowned the world over for their dance
what do we have?

I would hardly call taking swings at one another with 3ft long, 1.5 inch thick poles poncey.

Then there's the beer and the pub crawling - at the height of the season, Leicester Morris can dance at three pubs and get at least a couple of beers in at each, in the space of around three and half hours.

Oh, and then there are the bits where they get to include the prettiest women in the crowd and hoist them aloft, getting a good handful of bum as they do so. And of course, it keeps them pretty fit too.

So - stick fighting, pubs, women, workouts? I wonder more fellas aren't up for it.

Oh, and I forget to mention - don't the Scots and the Irish both wear skirts and sort of jiggle about on tippytoe when they dance?

saxy - I think the costume, the compulsary long grey beard and jamjar specs would put any man off joining
