from Pinkilady, who can't get into AB at the moment.
She says she's done the nailing / wiring and all seems to be OK. She wonders how many clematis she'll need for a 20 foot wall - she thinks 4 or 5. She also wonders, since there's grass at the bottom of the wall, whether she needs to cut out individual areas to plant the clematis, or would it require a full-length border running alongside the wall. She thanks you greatly for all your help.

Clematis are pretty hardy, it all depends on whether she wants them to grow just upwards or upwards and trailing along the length of the wall. I have 40ft wall and I have 4 clematis and a Honeysuckle. One of the nicest Clematis in my opinion is called Josephine, grows to about 6ft and the flowers are beautiful. When you buy the plants it will tell you on the label how high etc, the biggest grower to my knowledge is Montana Superber (spl) this one gets to about 20/30ft.
