Whats are the best diets which are actually tolerable and get you on your way to losing weight? I can do the whole eating healthy but just need a little kickstart where I lose about a stone or ideally more to get me going. Overall wanting to lose 2 and a half - 3 stone in 6 and a bit weeks... is this too far? Are shake diets good or are you left starving?

You *might* lose quickly on a shake diet-but you will put it all back on.
Your best bet is either something like WW or Slimming World, or a low carb diet such as Atkins, Harcombe or Dukan...Harcombe is the least restrictive of those.
But-no diet will give you losses of 1/2 a stone per week.
You could try Rosemary Conley kickstart programme based on healthy eating for 2 weeks, which could result in a 7lb loss over this period. Otherwise lower your carb, sugar and fat intake and increase your physical activity rate.
no chance of the weight loss you want in such a short time just over a stone maybe.... shake diets are ok if you want to lose a quick half stone to fit into a frock on a special occasion otherwise any of the mainstream eating plans will get you to around the stone and a bit in around 6 weeks if you stick with them 100%
Weight watchers, it works for me
i just cut down my portion sizes. Eat your meals on a side plate and not a dinner plate.

i'm bad at eating breakfast - but always have.

So for lunch i'll have - a honey roast ham salad with low fat coleslaw
or a pasta salad made with tuna, sweetcorn and low fat creme fraich and a tablespoon of mayo.
snacks - low fat yoghurt and grapes
Dinner - i'll have pretty much whatever I want but on a side plate.

seems to be working as I've lost 4lbs in a week and a bit :o)
don't know if this would work for everyone. really made me realise how much i ate of an evening that i really didn't need to as i'm quite happily full after my dinner!?
Hi Sofie, I swear by Rosemary Connley and she has good cook books for using after you have lost the amount of weight that you want to. She has reasonable exercises that go with each day and very good pep talks also for each day so that you really do feel you are doing something. Support from family and friends is wonderful if available.
