Interested to hear some well constructed views and opinions in these final days befor the vote. I'll not say which way I am but I'm sure it'll come out if we get chatting. Of course if you dont have a view or at least a well constructed one, then just maybe we can help you.

Some starters for 10?
- Will it truely create a fairer system of voting?
- Is an election like a horse race?
- Is Rik Mayall still your favourite comedian?

Oh and the 3 main partys are all as bad as each other so what does it matter who gets in.
They all promise us what we want to hear just to get our vote.
I never normally come on these threads as I just get me knickers in a twist lol..
jezter - in your expample, if all of the 50,000 would have preferred Labour over Tory, then they should have voted for Labour in the first place.
never mind about A/V why aren't we being given the choice of voting for the proper alternative Proportional Representation ?Ron.
I wish we had another choice with the following

cut the number of MPs to 500 and save nearly 25% of salaries and expenses - actually they could give 10% of the money back into improving MP salaries in the utopian ideal of attracting a better quality of candidate - the old adage of pay peanuts and get monkeys.

then for the voting system - (1) first past the post for 350 larger constituencies and (2) proportional representation for 150 seats drawn from central lists. This would then bring an element of the vote reflecting the national wish, combined with the traditional system - and also some interesting political decisions of whether a candidate goes consituency or central list (especially for those at the margins of the central list)
Personally I don't care what you all do as long as you use your vote. So get out there and put that cross somewhere - anywhere - PLEASE!
Seems to me that popular vote is not perfect, but, it is much better than getting elected by default. And, I strongly feel that a party with only a small representation of the population, should not be able to overturn a party who have received the majority of votes because of some percentage of vote requirement

I know this is an aside, but who proposed the fictional voting system where an individual has up to seven otes: one if your a property owner, one if you're such and such.
