Hi.
My daughter is hoping to go to Uni next Sept (2011)
She was going to go this year but decided to wait a year - for personal reasons.
We had applied for student finance and had no real problems, obviously we have cancelled it for this year and she will soon be re-applying.
The thing is she is currently living at home but this is not going to be the case for much longer. As she will be moving to live with friends of ours. As my husband is disabled and I am his carer she was entitled to full loans and grants. the people she will be living with are in full time employment. Does she have to give their financial information as she will be living with them? Which will greatly effect what she will be entitled to. i think I remember an option to not divulge financial information - is this what she will need to do?
Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
Thankyou
i woudl imagine you would be best thinking of her as a lodger at this place and therfore responsible for paying rent/keep etc...just as she would if she had a room in a stangers house.
i dont think it matter that you know the person...they will be her landlord...si she shoudl still get what shes entittled to.
From what I recall when applying for my daughter it is based on household income, whoever lives in the house. If you choose not to divulge financial information you only get the minimum - the maintenance loan and fees (ie no grant).
Its only based on the household income of people you are financially dependent upon, not just whoever you happen to be lodging with. if you don't submit financial details you get the non-means tested part of the loan only.
