the geraniums I bought yesterday are encased in a kind of net in the compost,, Do I remove the net before I plant them out or leave them alone... Why is the net there in the first place??.. thanks

No, don`t remove the net, the roots will grow through it, and it`s there purely for that reason, so that you don`t tear them or damage them unduly.

No, you can just plant them as they are. its to protect the root from damage when transplanting from pot to wherever they are to go, depending on where u are though watch for frosts still if further north..good luck :-)
