Need to use my hp printer with my laptop...

but since i had all my files removed due to a virus, i cant print anything now.
a mate had sorted this out for me several months ago. but would like do it myself without his help, and not always feel helpless.

i have windows vista basic, and a hp P1005 laserjet printer
