Asteroid to miss Earth in Nov 2011

Not exactly new news but I have thought of a couple of related questions.
1. Is it possible for this Asteroid to have a collision with another space body or just simply to split at some point and then have it's course altered and hit earth?

2. If this or any other asteroid hit the earth where would be the worst place to hit, the water where the Mariana Trench because of it's deepness is or the Antarctica because of the ice and water displacement, or somewhere else entirely?

2. Would make very little difference where it hit - size and angle are what matter.

It doesn't have to hit something to change course. Gravitational influences are changing its path all the time. That complex path has been calculated to miss Earth. However if some previously unaccounted influence comes in then it could change.

It makes a huge difference where it hits. The Chixilub asteroid impacted into limestone strata releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide which had a large long term climatic influence. If the same asteroid had landed on sandstone, the effects would have been for a much shorter time.

I believe asteroids aren't just going to miss Earth in Nov 2011. I'm of the opinion countless numbers of them have missed Earth in the last few minutes, including '2005 YU55' ;-)
