Update. I spent a vary disturbed night and the nerve or muscle in my right thigh kept twitching with each heart beat, and if I tried to move , a sharp pain would shoot down my leg. Climbing the stairs to bed is a mountainous effort, lifting myself one stair at a time, which took about five minutes to go up 13 stairs. I have to use two walking sticks to shuffle along. Sorry if I am boring you with my problem, but it helps take my mind off it. Thanks very much for your posts, as they help a lot.
Anneasquith: I assume I have Sciatica, and the GP hasn`t said otherwise.

GP just called and has increased Amitriptyline to 20mgs, so I hope I can get on with them.

i dont think you have sciatica carlton, from your previous posts there are certainly other things causing this. Have you ever seen a macmillan nurse? Could you get referred to the consultant at your local palliative care centre?

could you get someone to move yr sofa out, and have a day bed instead? or move some of your furniture upstairs so you have room for the bed downstairs?

DEN53: I`ll enquire about that, but I doubt it.

are your stairs straight? If so you can rent stairlifts, and they can be fitted the next day.
I had one and it cost me 500 for a year - it was a really good investment

Bednobs: Worth considering, but my GP said the pain may go away if it`s Sciatica, as it comes and goes, like the last time I had it a couple of weeks ago.

tell you what carlton, as soon as i get too rickety with my hips and knees to climb the stairs the way you're describing, i'm going to have a stair lift fitted. worth every penny i reckon, i intend to use my money to make my life easier. here's a link you may find interesting:

Carlton, my love, have a look at this webpage or contact your Social Services. With your circumstances, I think you would definately qualify for some help.

the pain "may" go away i suppose, but then again it "may" come back again
i know all too well the agony of trying to get upstairs - my husbang had to help me every single night for about six months. In my opinion, the stairlift was well worth the money to me :) Also, you can apply under "special rules" for Attendance allowance which will help with the cost

hi carlton. would you think about asking your gp to refer you to a " pain control practitioner " giving your history im sure you would qualify for maybe a home visit. take care
