Every year I have had frogspawn in my pond. But this year nothing. Although in the harsh winter we had I did retrieve several dead frogs from the pond after it thawed (along with many of my fish that also perished) I still have a number of frogs in my garden where I have sacks of home made compost stacked up behind the oil tank. So they are still there, just not breeding? My Dad has made the same observation with his garden pond too. Is it just a bad year for frogs to breed?

It's certainly prolific round here - my friend's dog fell in the frog pond and came out covered in the stuff.
I`ve never seen so many tadpoles in my life as I saw in the ponds in Bushy Park a couple of weeks ago. I was saying it must be a good year for frogs.

There has been a disease killing frogs in some areas and seemingly causing the spawn if there is any to die off and dissapear. The last 2 years we have found dozens of dead frogs around the garden and although there was a little spawn this year it came to nothing. Same happened to MIL (and her neighbours) who lives five mins down the road but my Mum who lives five mins away in the opposite direction has had no problems at all.
not a tadpole to be seen this year, usually to pond has a large tadpole population by now
