I've been hobbling along with this crossword for a couple of weeks now,and it's driving me mad...I've just about finished it,but I'm missing 7a...
Croissant? In Paris read article about organic one (6)
...One word in the clue is superfluous,and I have _ U _ U _E
Also 10a...
Unfinished opera is composed about dry I talian folk enjoying music (8)
I have R _ S _ E _ T _ ,and 'enjoying ' has to be the superfluous word....
Also,I don't get the special instructions....I won't reproduce them here,as I think someone will have had to have done the crossword to explain them to me,but I don't see any way to 'order perimeter geographically' without messing up all the clues...I see an anagram of Bolton at the top,(Barnes at the bottom..? )other than that I'm stumped...
When your grid is complete you should have 4 english towns round the perimeter - change them round so they are in geograhical order ie NW , NE etc - remember all entries in the xword will still be REAL words (not all letters need to be changed)
Thanks for those two Roslyn, never heard of either of them....I'm still not getting the perimeter thing tho....What is it I need to change,is it just four first letters of four of the answers,or something else..?
You should have (starting at top left going clockwise) round the perimeter TON BOLTON TOTNES BARNET MAL (mal + ton = malton)
Now change BOL for MAL, TOT for BAR , NES for NET, BAR for TOT, NEt for NES, MAL for BOL. Now you have round the perimeter BOLTON (northwest corner) MALTON (north east corner) BARNET (s e corner) & TOTNES (s w corner) so the towns are in their correct geographical positions.
Oh right, thanks a lot,I've got it at last.....I wasn't thinking nw,se etc, I was just thinking n s e w....Thanks for your help,I'd never have got that....I'm gonna go back and try some earlier genius crosswords to train myself up....
