Hi has anyone been on a Ryanair flight?. just wondering how strict they are with hand luggage.?

Oh!!!!!!!!!!! my hand luggage case is 2 cm. too thick.? but is squashy . will they let that through. x

If it is soft holdall type then you will probably be OK. However, if it is a rigid case then they will charge you £40 to put it in the hold!
They are very strict.

It does tend to vary between different airports. (That's partly because the staff at some airports are actually employed by other companies, such as Servisair, even if they're wearing Ryanair uniform).

The staff at Stansted are quite strict. (I've seen a few people who seem to have got away with 'stretching the rules', but I've also seen plenty of people challenged about the weight or dimensions of their bag). On return flights, from overseas airports, I've seen staff who've carefully studied every bag at some airports, whereas there have been other airports where you could quite literally include the kitchen sink in your hand baggage and nobody would notice!

The key rule which is almost universally enforced, however, is the 'one bag only' rule. You must put everything (including handbags, laptops and post-security purchases) into a SINGLE bag (which conforms to the requirements for weight and dimensions). If you've got two bags you risk being denied boarding.

Well it is a rigid case on wheels but the lid is soft. It is the handle and wheels that are the extra cms. v

They can be (!) really strict.

That's why we all hate them.

BA / TAP etc hardly even glance at the scales.

Ryanair are "Ooh, sorry madam, you have to pay excess baggage, you can't take that bag in the cabin" etc, etc.

I have to pay excess baggage because I'm 2kg overweight, when the lard arsed git in the queue behind me weighs about 8 stone more than I do !!!

At check-in they have a wire cage that is the exact maximum dimensions of the hand luggage. If your bag fits in that, you're fine. Here's an example of one ...

I think it must depend with hand luggage. I flew to and from Dublin last week and I didn't notice them look at a single persons hand luggage - some of which bags seemed big.
