As said last night I do not come onto this side of this site a lot so can someone put me in the picture, I have read the rules of the site & I would not go against them in any way, last night there was a post from JJ? someone comment on it as myself & a few others, myself I did not honestly think the post was in any way degrading, I think the point could have been put in a better light the way, the way the courts take action against whoever, I was about to put the Q's in myself but it would have been about the weights that are calculated by your suitcases etc, as we are aware the take off on a plane is calculated on the planes total weight. was JJ q'S Misconstrued?

I dont think it was that bad JJ, but I think it's time we moved on as said eh?

Indeed, let not keep bringing up removed questions, If you have a concern why not ask the same question more formally in the right subject category without using words that can be open to interpretation, there is less chance of things getting ugly there.
Not so much today, but we have all moved outdoors now ... hopefully for the rest of the summer.

If you CAN do it outdoors ... have lunch, coffee, watch music, etc ... then we DO do it outdoors.

Eeuuww ... what a ghastly sentence.
Long way from nirvana DTC.
Oo-er Mrs! I hope the neighbours don't mind ;)
LOL !

I think my neighbours are used to what goes on on my balcony.

But, iae, most of them are either ...

(1) city high fliers who vanish at the crack of dawn, and I never see them, or

(2) so old, deaf and mad that they should, by their time of life, have moved to Hove.
You raise an interesting grammatical point, JJ. Had you typed, "Not one..." I would have unhesitatingly said is, singular. However "None", although a contracted form of "not one", is defined in Chambers as being either plural or singular, so "are" is acceptable, and in facts sounds more natural. It's a bit like the ill-educated grammatical pedants who insist on, "It is I", when the correct form is "It's me".
Thanks, Mike.

I'm glad that either was acceptable.

That justifies my uncertainty. Okay ... it doesn't really ... otherwise I would have known that either was acceptable.

Duuh me!

But yes ... I agree about the "I" thing.

Some people just can't get their heads around the fact that "me" is sometimes correct.

Happily, you and I understand the rule.

Nobody would catch you and me making that sort of mistake.
... or should it be "you "OR" me making that sort of mistake" ??
Either. Depends if you regard us as a couple or just two individuals!
Or if we both made the same mistake together ...

... or only one of us.
Do you know who led the Pedants' Revolt ?

Which Tyler !
I thought it was "What Tiler" when my kitchen folk failed to turn up to put my Hotpoint in. Bloody revolutionists....but then I guess they do need to turn a wheel in life.
Well, I suppose that's the Watt Tyler gags exhausted.
There are not separate rules for ChatterBank are there? I thought the rules encompassed the whole of AnswerBank. If this is so TWR should know as a long established member.
Please tell me I'm not the only confused person on here?

Surely it should be him and I and not him and me?

OK, I'll get my coat........
