does anyone remember the advert for a chocolate dessert called a Lovely? It came in a small round pot with a cardboard lid. Inside was creamy chocolate with a dollop of cream in the middle. I remember the lady in the advert was lying on a sofa eating one. Can anyone remember who she was? I have Joanna Lumley stuck in my head but I'm not sure I'm right. Help.
yes I remember Lovely's back in the 70's, and they were indeed lovely. you took off the cardboad lid and I recall there being about 5 dollops of 'cream' on top of the creamy chocolate dessert. I think you're right and it was Joanna Lumley on the ad. They should bring them back, they were delicious!
How weird is that. I have been thinking about this product for a few weeks now and was wondering if it is still in production. I googled "lovely" chocolate dessert and came across this web site. Does anyone know who made this delicious chocolate mousse. I remember when was young buying these and trying to speed up the de-frosting so i could eat it quicket.
They were made by Bird's Eye originally. They are extactly as you remembered them "creamy choclate with a dollop of cream" - and the round tub they came in was a dark brown colour. I've tried to hunt down a image of them but without luck. Interesting to note is that recently Bird's Eye have reissued Arctic Roll and yesterday I found they had now reissued "Supermoose"! They were in the freezer section if you are looking. I think we should start a campagin to get "Lovely" back on the shelves! LOL. Any takers? x
Artificial cream with a piped-on look. Stabbed on a fork, delicious to eat as a frozen lolly.
Other frozen treats..
Midnight Owl choc ice
Cider Quench lolly
BRING THEM BACK
Yes the BirdsEye lovey was indeed an iconic product. Much more substantial in texture than a "super mousse" with a pleasantly lingering finish. Yes please, bring back the Lovely!
Apparantly Birdseye made the Lovely dessert, everyboby email Birdseye and hope the large number of requests convince them of the demand for them again, i have sent an email already.
