I got virgin tv, phone and broadband in november , ive had 2 bills from our old provider (for phone only ) ive been trying to sort it all out and im not getting anywhere with either virgin or bt .. Bt say its their number and virgin need to do a " number port change" of which ive informed virgin and virgin say its their number from when we had the old cable tv from years back as virgin took over it , any help please ? x
Is it a normal telephone number (i.e. similar to your neighbours) or a completely different set of numbers, cable phones near me all started with 338...........
When I had cable, many years ago, I transferred the same number from BT, which reading the above fits in with what is said. I was able to tranfer the same number back to BT. I think it's only new installations (or maybe changes made since then) that have clearly identifiable supplier numbers.
The old number we had with BT was a 747 number and .. thinking back ( from about 1987) it changed when we got cable tv to a 718 number , all this is doing my head in and stressing me out big time ... wish id never bothered changing now : (
Found this on virgin website , i only hope it helps me
Switching to Virgin Media
What happens when I transfer my line rental to Virgin Media?
You no longer need to pay BT or your current provider for line rental. This is great news because now you can have all your services on one bill from Virgin Media. Virgin Media will take ownership and responsibility for the phone line in your home. We can provide your line rental as long as you have a working or previously working phone line (from BT or another provider) at your property.
