Jail Overcrowding.....time for the Geezer solution? surely!

The governement is trying ever more desperate measures to avoid putting people in jail and to let those in there out early. Surely the latest piece of idiocy is this halving of sentences for rapists, discussed below. Surely it is time to sort out this jail situation once and for all. The solution is obvious when will politicians have the guts to implement it?

What you do is give the Thai authorities an agreed up front sum to cover it and it's up to them whether or not they deliver the scumbag back.

The problem is that many of the people who are sent to jail come and then reoffend. So they are sent to jail and again and then reoffend again. We are just breeding continuial reoffenders.

So for minor crimes is jail the right answer?

I think for minor crimes take away someones passport for a year or two years (or more).

With a holiday abroad a big deal for many people then the lack of a passport can be a huge loss.

p.s. As many crimes are caused be people on drugs or trying to get money to buy drugs I think a massive police campaign to reduce the selling of illegal drugs and long sentences for offenders is a start.
