Is it considered the done thing to continue 'hosting' a thread that you started ?

I get lazy sometimes after I've started one and don't keep up with the responses.
I've often read back over old ones and seen some great responses but assumed it's too late to say anything - especially to responses way back in the thread.
I hope I haven't p1ssed anyone off by doing this, I do appreciate people's input even if I didn't acknowledge it at the time.
