For the last few days this cat keeps on coming into my garden pretty much for most of the day on and off. It is very slim but doesnt look starving and it has a collar. It follows mine everywhere. If he is in the garden, so is the other, if he is out on the street the other is there too. I have tried calling it over but it seems timid and wont come to me. Is it doing it just to wind up my cat or do you think it could be hungry or just want a 2nd owner lol?

Tigwig, consider that it might be lost.... as you probably know we are looking for my Rover at the moment, and I am hoping against hope that he has done what he did when he came to us, he's looking for a cat-friendly house where he might find food (and more importantly, water). Of course he might just want to be friends with yours, but it is worth asking your local Cats Protection League if anyone's reported a cat like that missing.
agree with boxtops
Tig sorry for the intrusion
Boxy did you find your cat?

sorry box, I should have read you post above
hope he turns up
Cats are very territorial so your cat must not mind this stranger. Have you tried to tempt him/her to come to you with food and water? Alternatively of course, he may just be a new cat in one of the adjoining houses.

Well sometimes they do appear to play together and both lie down at the same time kind of thing but not that close. Then mine decides he's boss as it is his garden and chases it out. I did think about giving it some food but because I think it has an owner I dont really want to start that. I will now try and get close to it to see if it says anything on the collar.
By the way I really hope your cat turns up soon boxtops.
Thanks tigwig - so do we!
We had this happen with one of our cats, a little fluffy tabby used to follow him around all day and i think she just wanted company and she was very timid and wouldnt come to us. She sort of learnt from our cat what to do, like catching things and even weeing down the drains in the road :)
