Driving in Europe

I have lost my photo drivers license. I still have the counter-part document though.
I am driving in Europe next month, is it advisible to try and apply for a new photo licence
before going or would counter part along with passport be acceptable in the event of being pulled over?

I think you will need the card - OH drives in Europe all the time, it's the card he takes with him, that's the bit the police want to see (I believe)

Its better safe than sorry, will get onto DVLA tomorrow and hope it can be processed within 3 weeks!!
I have had the house upside down all week lookin for the dam thing...

You will definitely need your photo card. Also if you are in your own car make sure you have the log book and your green card. Depending on where you are in Europe, the police love looking for any excuse to fine you. Don't give them one. Talking of fines, check to see what items are mandatroy to be in your car. Triangles, hi vis jackets and even first kits can be required.

You should take both parts with you, either part on it's own is not your driving license, both parts together are.
