80th Birthday Present

Anybody got any suggestion on what to get my Grandma for an 80th Birthday Present. Doesn't need ornaments or flowers and also doesnt want a fuss.

Would like to get something special and unique.

How about a family portrait? I presume at 80 there's lots of grandkids and possibly great grandchildren? Betcha she'd love to have a protrait with you all on, with her in the middle as the grand matriach!!

Also you could get one of those big photo frames that hold a lot of small pics and fill it with photos of various family members, past and present, and maybe print out their names in a fancy font on the PC and stick them underneath.  We did that for a dear (now sadly departed) great-uncle and he loved it.

Does your Grandma have any old 35mm cine film of people no longer with us?  perhaps she might like to have this on DVD/Video if she has one.

You could make her a "This Is Your Life" album.

For my grandfather I rang the Archives Dept of the area where he was born, and got a print of a photograph of the area from when he was young. It brought back a lot of happy memories.

How about a CD player? That way you can all buy her CDs of her favourite music, classical, Glenn Miller or even books on CD.
