Posts and panels would probably be cheapest. This is in NI

Sandy, what height fence panels do you want, and concrete or wood gravel boards?
There will be a big difference in costs between a six foot fence and a three foot fence. I have noticed that fence panels are much more expensive now than the ones I bought only four years ago.

Wooden posts and 6' high panels.
Sandy, I have tried looking for information from Northern Ireland building merchants, not easy, and I have found this DIY "how to" on-line guide from Wickes to guide you in working out the quantity of material you need. I think it will be 5 x 1.8 mtr panels and 1 x 0.9 and 7 fence posts, but you will need to fix the posts in the ground, either by a cement mix or the metal fence post supports and possibly, gravel boards.

Sandy - Ar you just asking about materials cost, or a cost for someone to supply and install?

Supply and install. Then I'd get a job that hopefully wouldn't collapse with the first strong wind.
Sandy, those panels are dreadful. They always either blow away or soon begin to look tatty.
See if you can find a local landscaper to quote for .......... posts, rails, and vertical feather-edged boarding. Simple, but looks much classier, especially with an added top capping to finish it off.
Hi Sandy - this is way off the beating track re your fence. But I just wanted to let you know that I went to Lucy Jaffa on past Wednesday and I did not find it a pleasant experience. All I want is a gum infection taken away from a one crown but she started to go down the road of all the gums infected Stuck a needle in everyone of the gums - wants to shorten a backfilling of which I have no trouble - shorten a crown - sorry Sandy she is a cosmetic dentist and I have no desire of costmetic dentist just to get rid of infection. She took photographs and was quite rough in putting like "forceps" into my mouth - I had to take them out and insert them comfortably - altogether not a pleasant experience. She wants to strip my gums back and I know if I was sedated she would go to town on them - then she said after paying £1200 there would be no guarantee I would be okay and would suffer very bad pain for 3-4 weeks. I certainly did not want this at all but I paid her for what she done that day but sadly I wont be going back - she is definitely not for nervous patients. God where am I to go.

Connemmara, I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience with the dentist that I'd recommended.
I hate going to dentists, but the pain from an abscess eventually forced me. Maybe they saw that I wouldn't be a candidate for any cosmetic work. I had one tooth taken out and a general clean up.
It was all painless and I thought her a good dentist. That's why I recommended her to you.
Will be a days work for two men if ground is reasonable - so you are probably looking at around £1,000 ish I would say - but as Builder says get some quotes from hard landscapers
have just been quoted £650 and £350 for 24ft long x 6ft high fence.

Thank you all. I'll know now what sort of a price I should expect to pay.
twice as much for the left wing of the Fence than the right wing, the reason being that the Walling Union and Labour Party havent hedged their funds properly for building your Fence.
Classylady was your £350 quote to supply and fit 4 panels and 7 post's? - just interested
Tony, the quote is for 24ft of feather edged fencing, the top quote was with cement posts and gravel boards the smaller quote for wooden posts and wooden gravel boards.
