Mutual Affection = Sadness?
7 Answers
I've met a guy online who I seem to like and he likes me back. We haven't spoken for long but we've developed what seems to be a special bond and I seem to have fallen for him, likewise with him. We've described each other in endearing ways and we seem to really like each other, despite it being less than a week since we met. He's said that he'd love to be with me as a boyfriend and I said that I'd love to be his boyfriend as well. Earlier today, I felt like crying and almost did cry after we were talking about meeting each other, which could be at least a week.
I have a feeling that these feelings were out of impatience or perhaps because so many things have happened so soon. Still, I don't understand what's going on and I told Ben about my feelings. He was worried and unsure as to why I was upset. Any ideas? What can I do?

It's supposed to be exciting looking forward to meeting someone you like and I think you have built your expectations up too much and your intensity of feeling is out of proportion as a result. I would try and reign it in a bit if I were you as that kind of intensity at what should be the fun stages could be very off putting.
I told him that I want to slow things down because things were going too quickly too soon, I guess it all hit me suddenly yesterday where I was caught in the moment. He understands, although he's said that it's hit him "like a tonne of bricks" but he wants me to be happy. He's said that he's coming to terms with it all but I know that I need to get to know him more; I want to base what could be a relationship on a connection, not just on attraction (although, of course, they go hand-in-hand).
Thank you for your answers though, I'm glad to have my mind somewhat organised now.

Looks like meeting up is perhaps the best thing to do. We have spoken on the phone and we have video called on Skype too and I think that's where my feelings started building up. He seems really sweet and he thinks the same too. Of course, I can't base my feelings on just that because that's just the confines of each other's rooms.
I will ask him next time I speak to him when a good time for him to meet up is. I'm in that excited mood again and not too much sadness now as I'm trying to think in the present, not the future. Thanks again everyone.
