I have a British Airways Amex card which gives 1 mile for every pound spent. They used to give a free matching flight when you'd spent 20,000 but have now changed the rules so you need to spend 20k in a year to qualify. Even I can't manage that! But the BA miles are good and I regularly go to South Africa for very little cash. It does limit you to BA though.
