OK so I'm desperate to use my new ice cream maker. I've got some strawberries so I think I'll have a tinker later.

My question is this: Some recipes use eggs and some do not. Which makes the nicest icecream?

I've just made some strawberry and clotted cream ice cream, and a my husband bought home some toffee-nut brittle from Germany, I made some with that in too - (not with the strawberries though!)
Oh with eggs - i make a really rich 'custard' to start, then add the flavours
I just use strawberries, cream and sugar. The custard based ones are really good for some flavours but when you've got beautiful fresh fruit the less you add to it the better IMO
Hi Barmaid...so sorry I didnt put the ice cream recipes up...Went sick that night and only back at work yesterday.....I will put them up but I'm moving my Daughter to Scotland this Friday so its all a bit rushed. xxx
barmaid-would that be NARDINI'S,in largs, they are famous for best fresh ice cream here,we have even gone to largs for the day to get some ice cream,
I made a great cheats icecream the other day. I started of with a big punner of strawberries and a pint of waitrose super duper fresh custard. I washed, hulled and blitzed the strawberries, added enough sugar and blitzed until the puree tasted a tiny bit too sweet. I then stirred the mix into the custard and churned it. it was totally yummy.
