Facebook friend requests

I have just had one from someone who I have no idea who the hell it is. She works in childcare like me but I dont recognise her picture and she appears to be from Canada?! I have not accepted but sent her message to say I dont know who she is. Could this be some kind of scam? Why?

Is your profile private? She might just be interested because you are both in Childcare but you done the right thing and not accept her. Just see if she replies and see what she says. I am always getting requests from people from Pakistan/India/Canada/Russia...I just ignore them all!

I think she can now view your profile for a month because you've emailed her.

I doubt it's a scam, some people do seem to want to have hundreds of 'friends'.

Sometimes Tiggy, people may think you are someone they may have known, past friends, family etc. I had one recently from USA who thought I was their long lost cousin, because of my surname, but obviously being my married surname, I wasn't who they were looking for. It was a genuine request.

there was a thing going about, not sure if it still is people where just adding anyone to get up to 500 friends, couldn't really understand that

or maybe she thinks you are someone else

I've sent a friend request before to someone I thought was an old friend before realising she was in the US so it is easy to do it by mistake. Just cancel or ignore it tigwig. I've been sent one by someone called Mabel, which ayg said she had received as well, but I don't know who it is so I'm just ignoring.

Was probably me Jen.I had a phase of requesting Abers as friends but then thought it was silly cos you get to speak to them on ghere anyway although some of the questions do seem better answered on a personal level.

Shes's replied and said shes a daycare provider like me (I'm a childminder) and wants me to join her happy family of daycare providers!!! Silly cow. I clicked to tell facebook I didnt know her then a message came up saying it had been reported so I dont think she will be able to view my stuff. Not that there's anything on to view lol. I never write anything or put any photos on, only joined to search for some old kids I used to nanny for.
